Recently we published a special Youth edition of the Spotlight magazine. It was edited by young people and focussed on young people and sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR). What is SRHR? Why should we care about SRHR? Is SRHR just a donor concern or also a concern for all of us? The special issue sparked an interesting series of articles debating SRHR on the Spotlight website (you can read more by clicking on the SRHR tab at the top of the Spotlight website).

In this first episode of the Spotlight podcast your host Nomatter Ndebele speaks to Dr Daphney Conco of the Wits School of Public Health about what SRHR is and why it matters. We also hear from Treatment Action Campaign (TAC) Deputy General Secretary Vuyokazi Gonyela about TAC’s SRHR work in provinces and about how SRHR relates to the National Strategic Plan on HIV, TB and STIs 2017 – 2022. Finally, Nomatter chats to Spotlight guest editor Thuthu Mbatha about some of the highlights in the special Youth and SRHR edition of Spotlight.
